Paul Parsons has a unique blend of knowledge and experience gained from serving a variety of roles in the oil and gas industry over 40 years. Paul can assist deal-making, arbitration and litigation at essentially any stage of the process.

Paul is currently the Managing Director and founder of Energy Training Resources LLC (“ETR”). ETR provides oil and gas training services for oil and gas companies as well as variety of other industry participants. ETR also provides training services in conjunction with the Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) and Paul serves on the Advisory Board of the IPAA Educational Foundation. ETR’s training services are provided in live, eLearning and video formats using custom-developed instructional materials.

Paul has knowledge across the full range of the industry: conventional and unconventional; onshore and offshore; domestic and international; and upstream through downstream. ETR has developed a wealth of visual aids that can be used to explain petroleum geology, exploration techniques, mineral rights, leasing, pooling/unitization, regulations, drilling, completion, development, production processing, gas processing, measurement, transportation, joint operations, marketing and refining. ETR also has in-house resources to custom-develop visuals for any need.

Prior to founding ETR, Paul served 24 years with Occidental Petroleum Corporation, one of the largest independent oil and gas companies in the United States. At Occidental, Paul worked with a variety of domestic and international operations and projects. His earlier roles included acquisition analysis, divestiture coordination, planning, and project reviews. His later roles included serving as divisional chief financial officer for Occidental’s operating divisions in The Netherlands and in the Permian Basin of West Texas and New Mexico, which is Occidental’s largest operation.
